great faults and crimes of the world. May our
adoration never cease. – John Paul II

Twelve Points of the Montessori Method
This Week, Points 1-3
1. It is based on years of patient observation
of child nature by a great educational genius.
2. It has proved itself of universal application.
Within a single generation it has been tried
with complete success with children of
almost every civilized nation. Race, color,
climate, nationality, social rank, type of
civilization -- all of these make no difference
to its successful application.
3. It has revealed the small child as a lover of
work, intellectual work, spontaneously
chosen and carried out with profound joy.

BISHOP’S LENTEN APPEAL –
C
HARITY IS
F
AITH IN
A
CTION
Next week every parishioner will have the
opportunity to support the 2010 Bishop’s
Lenten Appeal (BLA). During Mass you will
receive information and a pledge card for you
to fill out. Please take time this week to
prayerfully consider your gift amount for the
BLA.
The BLA helps to support diocesan offices
and ministries that serve tens of thousands of
people each year. From support of
seminarians, to the training of our catechists,
to helping our youth grow in their faith, to
teaching respect for the sanctity of life, your
support to the BLA impacts the lives of many
people that reach beyond the scope of any
individual parish.
As you reflect on your blessings this year, we
ask you to consider making a sacrificial
pledge to help sustain the ministries and
programs that are funded by the BLA. By
making a pledge, your gift becomes
intentional, representing a promise to give not
from your leftovers, but from your first fruits.
From all that we have received, let us make a
proper return to God, Our Heavenly Father,
the source of our life and all blessings.
A Brief Thank You from Our Seminarian
Brian McAllister
I am writing to say thank you to all of you who
wrote me cards and sent gifts during the
Christmas season; my special thanks to the
little ones of Siena Academy for your prayers.
My seminary experience has been a very
positive one so far, but nonetheless, this
formation can pose unique spiritual challenges
along the path of spiritual growth and
vocational discernment; your correspondence
and your prayers have been most supportive,
as has been your hospitality at the parish.
Please know that I am praying for all of you,
and please continue to pray for me and the
other seminarians...we need it!
In Christ,
Brian McAllister
Seminarian, Diocese of Arlington
Annual Tax Statements
For all parishioners who have contributed over
$200.00 to the Church you should have
received your tax statement. If you donated to
Siena Academy, they can provide you with a
letter, as well. If you regularly contribute to
collections in cash and do not use parish
envelopes, we have no way to account for
your donations. If you have not yet registered
at St. Catherine of Siena and regularly attend
our Masses, please fill in a parish registration
form, available in the parish office. This aids in
tax preparation and is essential if you wish to
be married at our church, attend religious
education classes , or become a sponsor for
Baptisms or Confirmation
Respect for Life
Thank you for all who marched January
22
nd
to show your commitment for our
most helpless brothers and sisters.
As Pope John Paul II said, “Do not be afraid to
go out on the streets and into the public places
like the first Apostles, who preached Christ
and the good news of salvation in the squares,
cities, towns and villages. This is no time to be
ashamed of the Gospel (Rom.1:16).It is the
time to preach it from the rooftops. (Mt 10:27).
Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable
and routine modes of living in order to take up
the challenge of making Christ known in the
modern ‘metropolis’”
