What is St. Catherine's CYO?

St. Catherine's CYO and JCYO are here for the development of Saint Catherine's youth and teens into faithful, traditional, and virtuous Catholics, full of truth and happiness. It is also here to create an atmosphere where adolescents of similar upbringing can form bonds and supports that last even further than a Church setting.

How does CYO accomplish that?

1) Intellectual Growth: A segment of every meeting is dedicated to the discussion of a particular topic or issue that requires personal insight one's own life.

2) Prayer: A focus is always kept on the importance of prayer and keeping an open communication with God. How can we know Him if we never talk to him? Intellectual Growth facilitates our prayers.

3) Works of Charity: The result of intellectual growth and prayer must be a turning back to creation and beginning to “till and keep” it as a reflection of the Father's love for creation. In our Imago Dei we must recognize our duty to care for the world as God intends.

4) Festivity: The first three pillars, leading us into a shared communion with God, cannot help but build into a momentum of joy and happiness. Our lives become a celebration of all that exists!

5) Contemplation: It is here that as a group we collect our thoughts and our actions and begin to decipher the meaning and truth behind the Eucharist, the Trinity, and all the mysteries of our faith because it is here that we truly create a relationship with the Lord.

How do I become a member of CYO or JCYO

All Catholic parishioners in 8th through 12th grades are part of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church's CYO, and all in 4th grade through 7th grade are part of JCYO. There is no formal membership list.

If there is no membership list, why do you have a registration form?

The registration form is so you can receive regular announcements about CYO activities. Filling out a registration form doesn't oblige you to do anything. CYO meetings are purely voluntary, and you can come to any activity without filling out a registration form.

Can non-parishioners register for CYO and come to activities?

YES! We have several Catholics whose families are not registered with the parish who regularly come to CYO activities.

Can non-Catholics come to events?

YES! We have several non-Catholics who regularly come to meetings and other activities. We take that as a compliment that our children are being formed so as to attract others to the Gospel message.
